MEET YOUR GUIDES

MEET DAVE

Sometimes you learn the most important things about yourself when you weren’t looking. I’ve been an engineer, photographer, entrepreneur, and educator. But the moniker coach taps into the deepest essence of who I am as a human being. Everything I did before becoming a coach led me to this moment of helping others flourish and find themselves.

I’m that nerd who reads non-fiction tomes, devours psychology textbooks, and is obsessed with deconstructing the best interviewers’ questions in the world. Mix all of that with a love of adventure and exploring new things, and it is the culmination of Business as an Adventure.

My journies before this all showed me that teaching creatives how to build better businesses and uncover their inner strengths is my calling. Marketing, systems, limiting beliefs, the numbers side of businesses, and helping you find joy in what you do. It’s my dream job!

Let’s work together to unlock the potential in your business and unleash who you are to the world through your website.

MEET ANGIE

On my first day of kindergarten, I told my mom I wanted to be a teacher. The wisdom of that moment has never left me. Life might have had different plans, but I’ve always known that teaching was my truest calling and how I want to contribute to the world.

Since leaving my home state of Michigan in 2009, I taught high school in my new home, Maui, for four years. I left that job to become a full-time photographer.

As a destination wedding photographer in one of the most iconic and beautiful places on Earth, the only way my clients find me is online. Building a brand identity that showcases my talents has been a labor of love. My website, Instagram, and online presence has been honed and toned over the past six years.

Getting to teach you how to create an impactful and dynamic web presence, finding your unique brand and voice, and tapping into your ideal clients, is my opportunity to marry my love of photography and passion for teaching into one incredible course.

Let’s get you seen online!

LESSON DESCRIPTIONS

Week 1 | Identifying your Ideal Client

Whenever you’re going on an adventure, trip or hike, the first thing you need is a destination. It starts with a planning phase where you choose where you’re going, out of all the possible amazing places, which one calls out to you the most.

In business, identifying your ideal client is the first essential step to mapping out your adventure.

The same is true for your website. Until you know who you are writing for, showing images to, selling to, you can’t truly begin the process in earnest.
Week one is building your foundational roadmap. We’ll cover planning and setting ourselves up for success for the rest of our journey.

Week one is building your foundational roadmap. We’ll cover planning and setting ourselves up for success for the rest of our journey.

Week 2 | Explore Your Identity

Now that we know where we are going, we have to pack for our trip.

Who are you? What do you want to convey in your message? What words represent your brand?

You know who your ideal clients are, so now we will focus on the basics of connecting to them. We’ll start with writing marketing copy that they will want to read. This part is a lot easier once you’ve narrowed down who they are and what will resonate with them.

When marketing to your clients, you only need to market to a specific set of clients per year, depending on the size of your business. It’s important to speak directly to those people instead of casting a wide net trying to win over everyone.

Week 3 | Finding your Voice

Writing copy isn’t as hard as you think it is. We’ll show you how to create amazing copy for your website.

We’ll work on finding your voice, figuring out what to say to your clients, and how to say it well.

Included in this week will be strategies for making blogging and content creation easy tasks — ones that you’ll actually want to get done.

Week 4 | Powerful Portfolio Images

Choosing impactful images that represent everything we’ve identified.

As photographers, we think this is an easy task. Nope. This task requires that you take a bird’s eye view of what they will love, not what you think are your most epic shots.

Making them fall instantly in love with your work takes so much more than pretty pictures. We’ll show you how to choose the right shots for prospective ideal clients to swoon over your work.

Week 5 | User Experience

Now that we know where we are going, what we’re bringing, we have to actually get there. Imagine your call to action being your mode of travel.

Engaging marketing language pulls people in. It’s time to entice your clients to buy what you’re selling, clearly, concisely, and with authenticity.

Once we have the right words for your website, we’ll look at how to present it in user-friendly ways. We’ll cover how to map out homepages, how the menus should look and function, and the less-is-more principle.

You have six seconds to wow them into staying. Then, if they stay, you have only another short two minutes to really win them over. Streamlining their experience is crucial or they will bail just as quickly as they got there.

Week 6 | Copywriting and Finding Your Voice

Writing copy isn’t as hard as you think it is. We’ll show you how to create amazing copy for your website.

We’ll work on finding your voice, figuring out what to say to your clients, and how to say it well.

Included in this week will be strategies for making blogging and content creation easy tasks — ones that you’ll actually want to get done.

Week 6 | SEO

SEO is like sweet magic for your website. And magic is confusing, hard to pull off, weird, and no one really believes it exists.*

We’re going to try to demystify some of the magic of SEO to help your ideal clients find you. Having a toolbox of solid, replicable, and easy to achieve techniques will be a big part of setting your site up for marketing success.

Week 7 | Social Media Integration

Now you’ve got a great website. Hooray! What’s next?

Integrating this new hub of awesomeness into your social media accounts is the next important step. Connecting the various social media platforms — Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. — you will choose how to find and engage with your ideal client.

You can create a trail of connection between all of these platforms, getting hooked into one or all of them, funnelling your preferred methods of engagement, and creating spaces that work best for you and them.

We’re photographers. Instagram is already our jam.

But, it has many methods of engagement. The feed, stories, copy, sponsored ads — all drive people toward your business and your website, so that you can convert them into clients!

Week 8 | Tech Support Week

You’re almost there, but you might have run into a few roadblocks.

We’ll take this week to iron out the kinks and start checking out your hard work.

Week 9 | Final Website Reviews

Homestretch! It’s all downhill from here.

We’ll go over everyone’s websites, one-by-one, to see how you’ve managed to integrate everything you have learned. Are you using all of the tips and tricks into your own website workflow?

Since showing progress is an important part of developing your skills, we’ll compare your site to the initial self-audit you did of it to see how far you’ve come in just nine short weeks!

Week 10 | Conclusion + Final Problem Solving

Now what?! You’ve got a killer website!

What do you do going forward? What if your business changes? What if you move? What if you just want to change things up?

We’ll answer any questions you may have about your own site or future plans, while also covering best practices for taking you into the future.
